Stop the posturing July 24, 2006

It is not enough that WaPo’s editorial line has been - to their never ending shame - firmly on Israel’s side, supporting the endless carnage of innocent people, listen to this guy, trying to posture as some sort of impartial “media observer” (puke) when he is, in fact, a shill. He deems the flimsy reporting on Lebanese victims excessive, parotting the Israeli line that “Hezbollah started this”.

Not only is that pure BS designed to cover-up (or make more “palatable” - puke again) Israel’s crimes against humanity, as reported in his own paper, but it isn’t even true. The main US news outlets have taken their own sweet time covering the depth and extent of the devastation, just as the UN and the “international community” - these fountains of civilization - turn a blind eye to the horrors for 10 full days.  And everyone is trying to “balance out” by covering, for hours, Israelis bored in their hot bunkers and a couple of holes in the ground.  Let’s all stop pretending.

Pathetic US “left” July 17, 2006

Here it is, in all its glory.  This site is supposed to be the “leading (so-called) Democratic blog” - write about anything BUT Israel’s crimes against humanity.  Pathetic.  And he is not even saying the truth, is he?  The reason is won’t deal with the issue is not because it’s intractable, it’s because it would cause the Democratic Party too much headache with the Israel Lobby.  Pure and simple.  Hypocrits.

Our tax dollars at work…

We, US tax payers, are paying for this Killing, maiming, devastating Arab people and lands, at will, with the tacit and overt support of the “civilized” (sic) world. The US media has been its usual self, blind to Arab suffering, supportive of the Israeli gratuitous onslaught on Lebanon and conducive of its sickening lies and propaganda.

I’ve been nauseated having to follow the news all week-end on CNN, the reporting is so incredibly distorted and ignorant. I remain particularly disgusted by the utter silence from US “lefty” blogs. Crimes against humanity are going on in Lebanon, and the American left tries to cover it up. As for the so-called Democrats in Congress, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Joe Biden… outdid themselves on the network, lying for Israel, covering up crimes of a massive scale conducted against Lebanon and its people. John McCain, and a few other bush types were also on, doint Israel’s dirty work of deception and misinformation. (more…)

So, Israel is doing what it does best: bomb, kill and maim Arabs. It can’t help itself, it’s bent on making the same mistakes again, and again, and again - the very definition of insanity. Meanwhile, we, US taxpayers are paying for this continuous outrage to our conscience and humanity and our elected representatives - who were so eager to punish Palestinians for their election results - are silent, presumably in fear of the Israel lobby. Nor is the press or the so-called “liberal blogs” touching this. God forbid anyone should call Israel on its latest murderous rampage.

Meanwhile, Fromkin calls Bush the Bystander in this crisis - my feeling exactly.

Shame on you Congressman Van Hollen May 25, 2006

van hollen

This guy is a jerk.  I called his office earlier this week to urge him to vote against this filthy anti-Palestinian, AIPAC suck-up piece of crappy anti-Arab legislation, only to be told that the guy was co-sponsoring the damn thing!  Enough said.

Jim Zogby has an unfortunate tendency to see himself as representing the Arab American community - which is not the case at all. The various organizations he founded seem to mostly reflect the Arab American DC establishment; his “AA Leadership PAC” doesn’t discriminate against Arab candidates whose interests are opposite ours (see Congressman Lantos’ kiss-up bunny Darell Issa, R-Ca or that god awful woman who ran for Senate in Louisiana in 2002); his “Gibran Spririt Awards” go to honor - sic - folks like John Sununu Sr. What would Khalil say about being disrespected this way? And, of course, Zogby’s satellite organizations court big Arab business like nobody else.

Kevin Zeese has it going on April 25, 2006

Unless you’re morally bankrupt, it is not possible to listen to what Kevin Zeese has to say and not want to support his campaign. The entire piece is well worth a read but here are some choice quotes, pointing out the obvious to the willfully blind:

I wonder who signed this ugly sounding thing - one more is a sea of daily aggression:

He [Zeese] said the question of whether the hawkish, hard-right, pro-Israeli Lobby in America wants to see war with Iran gets answered in an ad which was in the New York Times, the Financial Times, and other newspapers. Its a full page ad by the American Jewish Committee, put out on April 4th. The center of the bulls eye is Iran and the headline is: Can Anyone Within Range of Irans Missiles Feel Safe? I think thats a pretty inflammatory ad. Its signed by more than a hundred people…I think its a pretty strong indication of where the Lobby stands. That isnt the only proof we have that the hawkish Israeli Lobby wants to go to war.

Inflammatory? That’s putting it mildly. I wonder who were all these signatories and what their motives truly are, other than hate. They sure as hell aren’t motivated by anyone’s wellbeing in the US. (more…)

A (oh so shocking) shift in paradigm in Palestine April 18, 2006

Used to be, old Arafat and the rest of the PA used to tie themselves in knots trying to conform to the Israeli/West diktat of condemning attacks against Israeli civilians while trying to explain the motivations of Palestinian youth giving up their lives for their land and their people. They tried, over and over, to explain the horrible conditions under which these people have been living for over 50 years, conditions that have been staring Israel and the West in the face for decades. To. No. Avail.

Scorn, contempt and further humiliation were the only visible results of such an approach. And definitely no progress on any sort of peace process. Adding insult to injury, when Palestinians chose their leaders freely, they get spat at and “starved” for not picking puppets of the west. (more…)

No freedom of speech if you’re speaking out against Israel April 16, 2006

This guy, Sami Al Arian has been, in my view, persecuted purely for speaking out, in the US, against Israeli occupation of Palestine and the abuse of Palestinian rights. Period. That’s it. Until 9/11, he used to hang out with Presidents, including Bush, etc. His systematic persecution began after 9/11. Pro-Israel forces in this country went after him, managed to get him kicked out of the University of Florida where he was teaching. Then the government brought charges against him and, in 2003, indicted him on the basis that “he helped finance terrorist attacks against Israel”.

He was acquitted in December of 8 of the 17 federal charges against him and the jury was deadlocked on the rest, but he has been kept in jail since then. What kind of justice is this? So now, he’s had to make a deal where he plead guilty to lesser charges so he can be deported. This is an outrage. I hope that once he is out, he can sue.

I can’t help it, these people piss me off March 25, 2006

Another “I was wrong” from someone on the American so-called left.  At least, this post is well thought out and comprehensive.  But it did take a severe defeat and thousands of innocent deaths, to wake some folks up.

Let’s see if all this self-reflection evolves to a consciousness that includes broader issues, such as Palestine, to cite just one example.  Sure isn’t happening with the Democratic party leaders, is it?  That’s a complete non-issue to the well-meaning American left but that’s its foreign policy test, as far as I am concerned.  And an open-ended “peace process” that never comes to closure while the situation of Palestinian worsens - à la Bill Clinton - is not a policy, just a dodge.
